 Occult Information

What is the Occult?

What exactly is it?

The Occult means the "unseen" or the "hidden". It is the study of the history, practices, lawe, beliefs and rituals of humanity over thousands of years. There has always been the occult in our lives. Some of us choose to explore it. The occult is a very broad term that covers many disciplines, practices and paths from Gnostics to Satanism as well as witchcraft and the Kabbalah and ancient beliefs and practices such as alchemy and theosophy. Students and practitioners of the occult are all on a journey of discovery, wisdom and empowerment. We learn, we discover and we maintain the wisdom that humanity has gained. We are also creating new paths and new practices and seek to understand everything about the universe including the sciences.

What is it is not

The Occult is not the way much of the media and religions portry it as. We are not generally mean spirited psychopaths hell bent on world domination or gaining power over others for our own gratification.

Who studies and practices the occult?

Occult students and practitioners come from all walks of life and from around the world. The occult has always been there in our culture and some seek it out. Anyone can study and practice the occult if they are prepared to study and listen to the wisdom of those who have gone before them. The Occult does not segregate by race, gender or sexuality. The occult is about freeing your spirit and body to be all you can be, at one with the universe.

Why?

We study and practice the occult because we seek more than what most people see as the world. We are curious, ever-searching for more wisdom and experiences. We seek more. We experience more.

How?
Everyone has their own path and their own experiences as they learn and practice the Occult. For some, they need the order and structure of a Coven or organisation like the FreeMasons or OTO . For others, it’s a solitary journey enjoying the freedom to
Learn and practice at a place and pace that suits them. There is no right or wrong way. As long as you do not intentionally harm others or yourself then you are free to do and learn as you please.
There are many books (lots of which are in our online library) and websites as well as social media and of course our own resources which you can use on your path.

Famous Occultists

Famous occultists include historical figures like Nicolas Flamel and Abramelin, Renaissance thinkers Marsilio Ficino and Pico della Mirandola, and modern esotericists such as Aleister Crowley(founder of Thelema), Helena Blavatsky (Theosophy), Dion Fortune (ceremonial magic), and A.E. Waite (Rider-Waite Tarot). These individuals explored hidden knowledge, magic, alchemy, Kabbalah, and spiritual traditions, influencing Western esotericism through their writings, practices, and organizations like the Golden Dawn

Is it dangerous?
If you study well and practice safely and in a structured manner then it’s perfectly safe. You get what you give. Do wrong and have wrong done to you. Do right and there’s nothing to fear.  Any practitioner worth their salt knows how to protect themselves and what matters to them as part of their practices. It is unwise to practice the Occult without such wisdom and protection.

Is it evil?
Some people consider the Occult evil or against their religion which is their right. To believe what they think is right and wrong. The universe is filled with energies and forces that occultists and witches use. Some use it for good , some for bad. The universe’s energy is neutral. It is the practitioner that chooses how to use it. Therefore no it is not evil in essence. Humans use it for evil sometimes. Of course, you have to consider what is evil . What is evil to you may be perfectly righteous to someone else.

What ethics are involved?
Like we said , ethics are down to the will and responsibility of the practitioner. Most people who study and practice the Occult and witchcraft follow guidelines on how to behave such as the Wiccan Rede or the 7 Tenets of The Satanic Temple. Ethics are important and the Network and OS do our best to advise on ethical behaviour.

What is my path?
As you study and practice your path will reveal itself. You may find that your life involves several paths and journeys as you learn and experience the Occult and its practices and traditions. Your path is your own. How you walk it is your choice.Your will.

How can I get help?
