The Crow Tarot was created by Margaux Jones (MJ) Cullinane is a Seattle-based artist and graduate from the prestigious Parson’s School of Design ; an independent artist and deck creator based in San Juan Island, WA.AS well as the Crow Tarot she is also the creator of other mass-produced decks Guardian of the Night, Urban Crow Oracle, Grimalkin's Curious Cats, or the Wise Dog.
The Crow Tarot took the tarot world by storm in 2018 and became the talk of the town. It began independently-published and crowd-funded, raising $120,000 in what felt like a blink of an eye. It was fully funded on Indiegogo . In February of 2019, there was a mass market version of the deck by U.S. Game.
The imagery of the cards is gorgeous and shows off her design talent whilst not veering too far off standard deck design so that it soon becomes second nature as any deck should be. The guidebook is clear and well written too and really shows her dedication to creating a well thought out and balanced design as well as functionality.
As of 2023, she returned to being a fully independent artist, publishing her work and “taking control of my art allows me to create on my terms without limitations. “
The Crow Tarot was released as both a normal sized deck as well as pocket edition. A corresponding guide book is also included to help you get the best out of this beautifully designed deck.
