What is Tarot?
The tarot is a deck of cards whose origins date back to Ancient Egypt or even earlier. In the many centuries that it’s been around it has changed, evolved and mutated into an array of decks. The humble deck of playing cards even has its origins in the Tarot. The Tarot we know and use today is pretty close to the deck used in the Middle Ages and in countries like Italy and Romania. Each generation of readers has evolved the tarot and its meanings accordingl to their local and spiritual surroundings. As such, every variation is at once unique and yet the same. Tarot readers use the cards to help people and themselves explore their inner feelings and desires and then offer ways that may help achieve them or feel me content. They do not “tell the future “ strictly speaking but rather they allow you to see your past, present and future choices in an open, non judgemental and encouraging manner. No future is set in stone. Changes made based on a reading can alter your and others future in the near or distant future. They are not evil, do not summon demons or spirits and do not cause harm directly. It is the actions of the people that cause harm based on an inaccurate, malicious or misunderstood reading. Anyone can learn to read Tarot. It is not a “gift” but a skill that can be learned.
